The Blog as a Writing Sandbox

Since the launch of this website, I have been using the Beyond the Trauma Wall blogs as a sandbox to develop and put words to ideas that were rising as I was doing the research for my new book ‘The Trauma Root of Social Work: Beyond the Trauma Wall.’ This has been very helpful not to lose the thoughts and inspirations that arose while I was not ready yet to put pen to paper (aka start typing). Now that I am working on the first draft of the manuscript, it has been a little quiet here, since my writing is happening elsewhere. However, I am not done sharing my thoughts and work.

First of all, I have started a Substack, where paid subscribers get a peek at parts of the early draft I’m working on. Sometimes even on the day that it is written. These subscribers also have the opportunity to comment on what I share and, in doing so, may influence the shape of the book in progress. If you are interested in reading along as the book develops, you can find my Substack here: https://florencekoenderink.substack.com/

Secondly, as usual, I am starting to see that I may be trying to stuff too much into the book and that this may get too overwhelming to make my main point clear. So, while for the moment the sandbox function of these blogs may be quiet, I fully intend to post the parts of the book that I end up cutting for clarity (and to stick to the word count in my publishing contract) here in the blogs. All to ensure that nothing is lost and people can still enjoy and benefit from the insights and explanations.

If you would like to support the writing of my new book by helping cover some of the costs, you can also do that by donating here: https://gofund.me/58335e83

Thank you all for your support and interest. And I’ll get back to writing the first draft now.
